Emoena partners with Scripture & Violence to bring Dutch leaders into conversation

The Scripture & Violence Project has partnered with Emoena, an interfaith leadership training programme in the Netherlands, to provide a series of online events about scripture and violence.

These events have brought faith leaders, teachers, civil servants, artists, and other societal leaders from a variety of religious and non-religious backgrounds into discussion.

Event participants have discussed violent-sounding passages from the Qur’an, Hebrew Bible, and New Testament together, and many have said they wish there were more spaces for this type of conversation, both within religious communities and between people of different faiths.

Participants also expressed appreciation for having a safe space to talk about negative attitudes toward religion — and especially Islam — that are common in European society today.

If your group would like to host similar events, we can help. Contact us for more information.
